Don't do anything for a while.......tell him you're in mourning and need time to think, no matter what your circumstances are!
The fog won't lift for a while; can you afford to buy another truck? If your answer is NO then your stepson needs to back off. If you can afford it, give him the truck with your blessings and move on.
Family who move in before our loved one's are at peace and we're still in a fog just drive me crazy. Even if you can buy another truck, this boy is WRONG! He's insensitive and selfish.
I'm sorry that you're witness to this behavior and without even knowing Jerry I know he wouldn't approve of his son's attitude.
Good luck with this,
Warmly,

Period.
The son would need written legal documents that his dad left that truck to him at time of death
Don't pay for a lawyer or even put any of your energy toward this attack. as another member said, if the son decides to, it is his choice and his bill.
It is unbelievable what relatives can put us through, much less SO SOON.
I've been attacked by family too, while at my weakest. and it isn't even "step" kids.
my worst nightmare.
we have to survive.
Just consider that the truck may be just as important to him because it was his father's truck. If on the other hand you can't financially afford to replace the vehicle, there are ways to approach the situation. Lawyers should not come into play before trying to keep the line of communication open. There are always 2 sides to the stories. Good luck
Maggie
I'm so glad for the time I took and am still taking over 2 years later. I know when all the fog has settled, I will be grateful for giving myself this much needed time. And, so will you.
Roz
It's YOUR truck! Keep it.
Be compassionate, if you can, and if he continues to bother you about the truck tell him you're sorry, but the truck is mine. His father decided that. Love you, Sharon
The ONLY exception to that is when, financially or circumstances truly give us no choice.
