This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Time can be an enemy as we all know, as we wait to feel better. It doesn't seem to get any better sometimes.
As I look back on my life, I see examples of how time really does work. My grandmother died in 1965, having lost 2 babies (stillborn; intestinal diease). She grieved her whole life, living until about age 70 something. However, as I think of it now, she has been in heaven for 48 years WITH HER BABIES, all 4 of them. She is no longer crying but laughing and hoisting them into the air in glee. I'm sure she has forgotten the pain of earthly life.
After I was divorced following 20 years of a hard marriage, I was single for 9 years before meeting the love of my life. During those 9 years I thought my life was over, I wanted to die, etc. Upon meeting my Joe and subsequently marrying him, my life was so much joy I hardly ever thought any more of the pain during my 9 single years.
My perspective of this life of pain is that it is for a season. I could not control the events of my life, but it has been sprinkled with joys and sadness both. My driving force is to endure, make the most of it, and hang on for the joyful reunion to come. May this bring some comfort to all who mourn.

We've had no choice but to recover, as well as we can anyway. Some people do, and some just simply can't. They stay stuck in their grief and cannot resolve the fact that they must live on without their partner. Not easy for we were handed this, it wasn't something that we chose.
