I certainly do understand. I've already started to write his name and caught myself. It takes one of us, like you or I, who has been through this to understand. I don't think others understand the depth of our feeling about little things like this. My heart goes out to you.

So many of my occasions come in the latter half of the year, so I haven't had many cards to sign but, yes, it was awful. I find some of these things - that would seem to be small things - can be significant.

yes, I totally understand. I have 7 grandchildren from ages 10 down to 3 years old.
I get a sinking feeling every time I just sign "Nana"....for the older ones, who had a special bond with their 'Sabby" I always write something pertaining to a special memory of "their Sabby""......They really like that, it gives us a chance recall and talk about their special memories of their Sabby.

I can so totally relate. My husband passed away in '09 and I remember the first year of "firsts" and that was one of them. It also felt so awkward and sad to be looking at cards to pick out that no longer said "from the both of us". I'm so sorry.....hugs to you....Deb
