However, I think we all need reassurance that our loved is safe, happy & lives on ~
Signs show up everywhere unexpectantly, the most recognizable for me were outside the home even in the backyard through nature or on the radio ~
Desperation can prevent recognition; they are always around ~
I believe our spouse never stops trying to communicate ~

My reponse will be somewhat of the question posed, I have not seen Grief Tool Box and probably wont make an attempt.
We continue interaction and connection with the loved one in a very particular way. No other human being can reproduce this interaction, because it is within your heart, your cells, the way you think and feel.
It becomes a part of you DNA, intergrated into your being. No one can give it to me, but no one can take it away either.
Just a thought of it, brings to me some peaceful gladness.

I think there are so many signs out there from our spouses, be it coming across a letter we just found in the home, an object we just came across that reminds us of a certain time with out spouses or through family that tell you that such and such a thing happened today. I had that happen not too long ago about a paper they found whilst cleaning and they called me about it. I was at a low point then, they called me at that time and asked me about it. So if I open my mind up, I would say yes that was a sign in that I was low and needed help, and they came across that object and phoned me. Maybe that was something they had to find at that time, put in that place for them to call me when they did.

I do have an open mind, but I also try to think logically as well. For example I kept smelling this nice flowery scent each time I went close to a certain area of the house, did not notice it before. I found it was a air scent you plug into the wall, but it was at the back of a drawer. So sometimes things like that are a logical thing, whereas the paper thing was beyond coincidence. Those moments I have had many of, but like all of us, I want my wife to be back here with me. But even though I know that will not happen, I can not accept that.

It is a terrible and lonely journey we are on, but I am happy to be part of this great support group which makes me aware that I am not alone in this world of pain and loneliness. Coming here was the greatest sign I was given.

I did read this article. I could have written it. I still have a relationship with Jim after 4 years. It's things that happen in your life that bring you back to a life with them. Signs if you want to call it that. I believe they are always looking out for us and yes they do want us to know they are in a better place with no pain. I have talked to Jim everynight since he died before I go to sleep. He doesn't answer of course but it makes me feel connected to him.I now live my life knowing I will see him again I have had many signs especially in the beginning years so I know he is ok. It's certainly not the same but when I think of him now the memories are sweet.

I have had many signs, some good, some bad. but they are when you least expexct it. they will pop up from anywhere, at any time. i to, was worried about that, it seemed like it took a couple of moths. then they started and i can't get them to stop....lol.....

do you ever just be walking along, and find a coin laying on the ground? Some days i will pick up quite a few. look at the date. see which loved one died at that year. They are considered "pennies from heaven"....I have heard that all my life....

Most of the time when I try to talk/answer any of these discussions I have my "wrapped in grief" brain going. I have to admit, (and I say this with a BIG smile on my face)......if I could talk to Ells right now I have questions about where is this thing and how do I fix that thing and remember that time, what was the name, etc......He knew I loved him totally, but those other answers. I actually think he is probably watching me type this right now and laughing at me!!! :-)

I just went to the cemetary. A nearby grave had a wind chime on it. While I was standing there, it started chimimg a song he used to sing when we first married, he was the lead singer in a band. First I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. So I went to that grave, and it kept on going the same tune. Now I have Never heard one play a tune, usually just sounds. I am going to go by one and hang it at my home.

Yes there are signs out there. We just have to open ourselves to them. One day I was having a lot of stress. I decided to get on facebook and while I was there scroll through the news feeds there was a daily picture that was delivered from my husband. After totally freaking out about it for a few minutes I calmed down and realized it was his way of telling me everything was going to be ok. I talk to my husband several times a day. I've admitted so much to him about things I have done.

I've heard about loved ones coming to people in their dreams, communicating in some kind of way. that it brings them a sense of peace and comfort. I however have not been blessed with that YET! (dreams) Right after my husband passed I begged him to let me know he's still with me, I had to know he was there. I got a chill from head to toe. I know that was his way of letting me know he's here. But I have not had any dreams, and haven't had anything since that chill. I'm getting scared that he is gone forever.

My mother in-law said she seen my husband in a dream. My daugter said he came to her in a dream several times since he passed, told her to look after me, to make sure I'm doing ok. To make sure see kept an eye on me because he knew how fragile I was right after he passed.

It was a good article. I've been reading more about this kind of communication. I've received nothing that was clearly a sign as yet. Maybe something subtle, but I wasn't convinced it was an actual sign or just my imagination. At the end I told him to be sure he comes and visits. I hope it happens soon!

I know I had a dream last night about my wife, but I can not recall all of it,but I know I felt comforted to be with her again. I do dream of my wife often, and I know I do talk to her in my dreams and she talks to me, I know they are signs also.

Haven't read the article but your post read "communicate" rather than receive signs. As far as signs, yes I know that if you're open there are signs that will present themselves, such as smell, touch, sounds, and even strange things regarding electrical items. Sometimes the signs are there but our grief keeps us closed to them.
And dreams as well for a number of us. I believe that's called a visitation.
Our loved ones ARE still there.
As much as it may hurt not to have them here with us in the physical form, the fact that we can't touch or see them directly does not take away from their existence.
Of course there are those who don't believe what they can't see but it's of no consequence one way or the other to the reality of those who have passed, which continue away from the physical form and into the spiritual.
As far as actual "communication" though, I believe you have to go through a medium who has an actual gift for communicating directly.

I could feel my husband spiritually and physically for the first couple of weeks after he passed. Then that went away. But, recently I pulled my phone out of my pocket and turned it on. A "favorites" screen that I didn't even know was there came up. My husbands name was listed twice. The next day it happened again. I think it was his way of letting me know that he is still with me. That he is.
