May 19, 2016...A year ago today was when it all started.
That may not be totally accurate...the pieces were already in place that set it all in motion...Marylou had already been diagnosed with the condition that brought her to the "Cath-Lab", where she would undergo a heart catheretization procedure at 9:00 AM, a year ago today.
What I remember most about that day is...everything...when we left the house to come to the hospital, we had every expectation that Marylou would be back home before the weekend...I was wrong...and I get to live with that by myself.
It was a beautiful spring morning in Northeast Ohio that year, just like it was this year...an absolutely clear blue sky and a slight nip in the air from the morning dew promised a tomorrow that was not to be.
When we arrived at the entrance to the Surgery Center, I offered to drop Marylou at the entrance to save her the walk, then go park the van and catch up with her inside...she said "no", to just park it and we'd walk in together...to this day, I wonder if she somehow intuitively knew something I didn't...that turned out to be the last time she ever felt the sun on her face...in this life.
May 19, 2015 began the 24-day roller-coaster-ride that ended on June 12th, when it was found that a brain aneurism ruptured and we were forced to remove the life support.
Since, I have studied many writings about the Afterlife, Spirituality, Near Death Experiences, and the like...just about all of them describe how, in the Spirit Realm, "linear time" as we know it does not exist...there is not really a way to understand how it works...but just that it-is-what-it-is.
But I can easily relate to it...because as I prepare to cross the one-year threshold of this journey...sometimes it's like a million years ago...and other times it's like it was just yesterday.
All at the same time.

We really never know what each new day will bring therefore we need to live in the moment and cherish every minute.
Unfortunately....Sometimes we have to learn this the hard way. Whatever the case may be, you'll always have memories and your faith.
