The car wash

Running some errands this morning I drove past the car wash. It brought back some fond memories. A number of years ago a fancy new car wash came to our town. One of those chain driven things that grabs ahold of your car and pulls you through. Between the equipment and the sprays you are completely hidden. About 2 years before my dear wife passed away we were going through the wash one day. On a whim I leaned over and kissed her. That was the start. From then on we always went through the car wash together, making out like a couple of kids. At home we would drop little hints to each other about how the cars looked dirty and needed a wash. It was so much fun. I only wish we had started sooner. Now when I go through the car wash I hold her picture and talk to her. I was so blessed, and oh, I miss her so. But maybe this story will give some lonely heart a smile today...

You did, holland! More than just a smile...a good hearty laugh. That's something Vern and I might have done had we had the chance (he always wanted to wash the darned car by hand!!! Thanks, buddy!

Your wife was a very lucky lady--and I know you must have been a very lucky man--she must have been very very special. This is something I can see my husband doing--he was such a romantic before he got sick. You brought a smile to my face--thanks for sharing your story.

Yes, you brought a smile to my face with your story. Made me think back to some of the excursions that my husband and I made. Ah the those were the days and we didn't even know it. I've mustered up the nerve to go to the lake that we used to swim at. I go alone just to feel close to him again. Have not actually got in the lake because I have mobility problems and would need help getting in and out. But that is the place I have felt the closest to him. Memories ... good memories.

What are wonderful memory! It made me smile, and I'm glad for you that you have it. Our memories are precious, aren't they? I cherish every single one the memories my husband and I made together:

What a sweet story! There are so many memories now, I've started looking at photo albums again and every picture brings me back to a happy place and wondering if I will ever be happy again...
