I read more then I comment. Many say what I would say but often times better. I am surprised that so many though different stories have the same thoughts, worries and feelings as I have because of my and their loss of a partner. Some have a loss of a few years together, some have a loss of someone they were with for many years and from a very young age. I don't understand the human mind that we find peace in knowing we are not alone in our sorrow. I have known widows and widowers but never paid much attention to them.They were a part of life. Now being a widow I am looking at people through different eye, sad eyes and a heavy heart.

Welcome to our group, my friend . . you are now family. Not by choice necessarily, but here we are all together on this grief journey. You will find much uplifting advice as well as sharing your own, which can be very cathartic toward healing.

Hi, I don't like to welcome folks to such a group. A group that I NEVER wanted to be part of. A group that I would have done anything in my power, if I could, to STAY AWAY from! A group that I thought consisted of cranky, old women and men, a group that certainly didn't represent me.

Guess what, I'm HERE with you. I'm not cranky, nor old. I did everything I could to keep my Morey with me, to keep him well. Maybe I didn't do enough, maybe I wasn't good enough, maybe I could have done more! In some way, this MUST be my fault!

Guess what, YOU represent ME! And, I, YOU! We've suffered the worst kind of loss short of losing a child.......We've lost our mates, our partners, the other half of me!

Will I ever be able to really laugh again.......to see the beauty of life again......to share all that I have inside me with all of you.....I don't know....but, I need you. That's all I know right now, I NEED YOU!

Glad you've taken the step to speak up. Misery loves company as the saying goes. Crazy as it sounds there is comfort in knowing others have trodden this path before you and with you. You'll be amazed how many times you'll say " I could have written that!" I tell myself that if I can help someone else who's grieving by sharing my experiences then maybe it all hasn't been in vain. So sorry for your loss. Glad you have joined in to share your pain, thoughts, compassion and all that grief entails. We are all at different stages in this journey, but we all relate to the loss of a love. I get much comfort here and know everyone understands and supports no matter what is going on.. I have a friend whose husband was just diagnosed with terminal cancer, and we have had some deep conversations. I pray I can be a good support for her.
