Ruthann . . not my forte . . I am not qualified for medicare or medicaid . . . self employed and self paying my medical bills. I certainly hope someone here will have some good advice for you. I do know that my deceased husband, as well as my mother took out what's called a "G plan" with Mutual of Omaha . . and it seemed to be a great supplement for them. I can't speak personally on this, but might be worth checking into? Best of luck. xo, D

I spent a lot of time researching suppliments and advantage plans. I am 56 but qualify because of an injury that left me unable to work. I am happy to share what I learned. Will kind of drag out so message me. John.

Have you asked BCBS if they have an appropriate stop-gap policy? They used to write various short-term policies for people who were waiting for regular coverage to kick in - for instance if you start a new job and in 3 or 6 months your coverage from your job would kick in, then BCBS would write a short-term policy for that 3 or 6 month period. I had to do that a couple of times while I was on the first few months probationary time on the job. Just a thought....

you are saying you need something for what insurance doesn't cover - what are you referring to? deductible? copays? If so, those are your cost share and you will have those of any insurance. It's possible the insurance you have doesn't meet your needs and you may need a different type of policy. BUt, yes it is correct you are not eligble for a supplement unless you are on Medicare. Talk to BCBS again and see if they have any other options for you and then compare it against other insurers in your area. You state may also have a connector website where you can compare the different plans across insurers.
