I am an ex-pat American now living in the UK, my sons are here with me, but the rest of my family is in the USA. I keep in touch with my family there by webcam (Skype) calls. It's a little tricky with the time zones, but it is a real treat to talk with them and see them. I don't feel so isolated then - homesick yes, but not as cut off and isolated. I will be talking with 2 of my sisters later this evening as a matter of fact. You might want to think about downloading the Skype software and trying that. It also saves on the phone bills as the calls are free.
I am sorry for your loss. Sending you Love and Hugs....
Martha
I live in London so I do go out a lot because my passion is opera, the theatre and art generally, very accessible here of course. I do FaceTime my daughter who lives I Australia every evening mostly (time difference obliges). The rest of my family leaves in the South of France. I go often of course but Sunday was always a special relaxation time with my husband. I miss him basically.
I haven't been able to return to my regular Mass at my parish because that is were the funeral Mass was held. I've been once to another church and will try to go to my parish church but a different time of day for Mass.
I hate all of this...it is horrible.

I went to Sunday School and church. That got me to noon. I got a fast food meal, came home and changed my clothes and headed out to the dump (we have to take our own garbage in this rural area). Then went by cemetery and changed out the flowers on the grave. Left there and drove 5 minutes to a popular river spot for families. It was jammed full and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I didn't get out of the car. I just like to ride down there, see the water and the people, then leave. If there's room to park (fewer people there) I sometimes park and just sit and watch the river. Anyway, stopped by gas station to fill up gas can for the lawn mower. All my afternoon without speaking to a single soul. All alone and so lonely. I hate Sunday afternoons now without Joe.
