I lost my husband last year to suicide, he had issues I never even knew were that extreme until that night, that minute. I think I somehow managed to survive those first few days and weeks by shutting so many feelings out and forcing myself to keep going about my daily routine ...trying my hardest to be angry. My fear was that if I let myself feel this other worldly soul crushing pain it would literally swallow me up. And being thrown into all the business and financial issues that came up right away was enveloping. Everyone kept telling me that each day it would hurt a little less or I would miss him differently as time went on. Well strangely enough it seems the pain is more apparent every day. The more time that passes I feel more despair in the idea, the realization (as crazy as that sounds a year later) that I really won't see him again...the love of my life, my soulmate ever again. I was 29 years old, had been married 5 years, and it almost feels like Sep 21, 2016 was sort of the day my life ended in so many ways. I need someone to tell me it really does get better because I don't think at this moment that I believe that. I'm not suicidal, it's just that I'm tired of just "surviving".
