While with local community at local church putting things together for fire victims, and firefighters the local pastor (a character) said as we were eating "We'll miss out on the wonderful and exciting things God has for us if we stubbornly refuse to let go of the past. We cannot dwell in two places at once! We do not let go of our memories but we do not live in them.
We were talking about me being on my place if fire hit how hard it would be for me to get out. And several got to talking about our losses. He evidently thought we needed these words...however, he also said mourning and grief are necessary like running laps or lifting weights are for fitness. He also said he saw several of us to be strong, resilient and fruitful that God cares for us by tenderly trimming and shaping us to become the people he intended us to be. That God helped us conquer our overwhelming situations his loving hand offers us strength and help and hope during those times. So when we feel exhausted or discouraged it helps to know God's scriptures say we need to receive help from others, we all need each other and thrive in community. He ended with a prayer asking God to help us persevere in prayer when things seems impossible.
