I just want to apologize for my last post on this discussion page. This site is a beautiful and cathartic place to go when widows and widowers need to vent, be comforted, and share the good as well as their bad times.
Sometimes I don't express myself very well, and I am truly sorry that I wrongly came across that it might've been this site that was bringing me down and causing my nightmares. I know now that it wasn't this site, I was going through one of those days when I was just so sad, angry and couldn't deal with my life. I wasn't scammed on this site, it was a financial situation and luckily it wasn't a lot of money. I've also had problems with some other shady websites, but I am learning from my mistakes.
I was almost taken advantage of by a few friends, and sadly had some issues with a family member.(I will never trust this person again, but we've worked it out) So I guess these incidents have made me hyper- cautious about everything lately. I'm especially sorry to the people on this site that are going through the very raw and early stages of this terrible grieving time. That is the most crucial time when you truly need the people on this site to help make sense of it all. I wish I would've known about this site early on after my husband passed, it would've been a nice place to go when I needed it the most.
Thank you to the people who responded to my post, I really appreciate your honesty, kind words and encouragement.

Nightlady, you do not need to apologize! We all understand what you are going through. Shoot there are days when I can't come up with a complete thought let alone write a complete sentence. I have misinterpreted so many things my very own daughter has said or written because my brain is off track. Our emotions are raw and mine seem to be just plain brittle at times. I am super sensitive to everyone and everything. Grieving is a nighmare in itself so I didn't take it as this site was the cause of your night terrors. It can be depressing to come here for me at times because I have such empathy for those having to live through this journey. That said, I do hope you continue to come and share with us, I couldn't have made it this far without the wonderful support and compassion I find through other members on a site no one wanted to join. Oh Nightlady....it's okay. I think pretty much everyone knew where you where coming from. I'm sorry you got scamed elsewhere and with people you know. You sound like a good hearted person and maybe some took advantage of that. As in life though...always listen to your gut. If something sounds too easy or too good...beware. Ask questions and do your homework re: the situation. You're safe here. Oh every once in awhile a yay who comes along but our CL' s are on it like flys on poop! (LOL! Thanks guys!). Please share with us all of your concerns fears and joys! We are here for you!

No apology needed, I totally got what you meant. I too am very open and vulnerable on this site and Twitter and social media in general and sometimes people think they can take advantage of that.

Online boundaries are very important, as I mentioned in my previous post.

I am really glad you weren't scammed on DS, this seems to be an Internet safe space, a least so far. Most people on here are kind and good hearted and just looking for a little solace.

I understand that when you're grieving is a very vulnerable time though, and I commend you for standing up for yourself. I think everyone here got what you were trying to say.

Hi, it's okay. I am sorry you were scammed elsewhere, and that people tried to take advantage of you. Many of us had people we trusted try to take advantage of us. It sure changed my world view when it happened to me!

As far as safety here on DS, there are 3 Community Leaders here for our group, and we do our best to keep this group reasonably safe. There are precautions I take and that everyone can take, and I have bumped an older discussion thread back up which details those things.

If you do run into problems, you can use the Report Abuse link or contact one of the CLs. I am one of them, along with my friends Sharon and Marsha - that's Shrn and marjoe.

I am sorry for the loss that brought you to us, but I hope that you find being here is helpful. Being here helped me rebuild my life. Welcome.
