Has anyone had any weird side effects with Prozac? I had been on Citalopram, but my doctor switched me to Prozac because I was gaining weight on Citalopram. Just started it, but I am noticing that I'm getting ticked off easily----something that is VERY unlike my 'normal' personality. I don't know if it's just from the switchover and will resolve, is unrelated, or is something typical of this drug. Anyone else have a similar experience? I think I'd rather be curvy than pissy ;-)

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

You may actually be feeling side effects from stopping Citalopram. I don't know how long you were taking it or how long it's been since you switched, but my guess would be to give it a few more days, then if the pissyness is still there, give the Doc a call and see if something will suffice.
Meanwhile, God help the telemarketers... :D
Good one Kaaren. I like throwing things too. I buy 5 and 10 cent dishes at the thrift store and have at it. I really do feel better when I am done.
I did a little research and found that there are some side affects to Prozac like irratability but they are supposed to be fairly rare.
From personal experience I can tell you that my youngest daughter was on it for a while and was one of the few who did have some adverse though not dangerous reactions.
There is a lot of information on the web about meds but you have to be careful about the sources you might look into. Far to much of the information is based on opinion and not on fact. I try to keep my research to information associated with trusted medical sources such as large, well known hospitals. I'll paste a couple of links you can check out that have a good reputation for reliable information.

The information in these sites is about the same as the information you should have been given with the meds. Sometimes I find it hard to concentrate enough to read through this stuff. In those cases i call the pharmacist and doctor as others have advised.
Hope this helps.

Just a few days ago I talked to my doctor about trying to be weaned off the antidepressants slowly. Hopefully I will be well enough to do so but if not I'm okay with using them. I would rather take a few meds every day and have a quality of life than not take them and spend my waking moments wishing I could be struck by lightning or hit by a train.
Depression runs deep in my family so I know i may never be off the meds completely but as I said taking them is far less a problem than the alternative depression.
Hugs,
Matt
How long have you been on it?
