There really is no way to fully comprehend, or prepare for the death of a spouse. It is devastating and life altering beyond what anyone who hasn't experienced it can imagine. What you are going through is very common. I was scared, anxious, couldn't eat or sleep, and thought I would never learn to cope and live again. For me, what helped was temporarily going on medication, and joining a hospice support group. There is no timeline, or way to speed up the process, you just have to take it a day at a time, and have faith that it will eventually get easier. We all grieve in our own way, on our own timeline, but those of us further out can assure you that although you will always grieve your loss, you will eventually learn to live your life again.
I am sorry things are so hard with his daughter. Unfortunately, this too is not uncommon. Please hold off on making any big decisions right now. You are still very early in your grief and probably still in a state of shock.
We are all here for you. Please take care of yourself and reach out to those around you for support. People want to help, you just need to know it's okay to ask and let them know what you need.
Peace and strength to you, Lori
