Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
We humans are so complex. I told my wife that dealing with computers, databases, and business rules were simple compared to understanding and working with people. She was a marriage and family therapist and she would explain the dynamics of some of her cases ( before you go all hippa on me, she never mentioned any names, lol ).
The reasons why people act and react are very complex sometimes, and they might be unaware of why they act like they do.
But you have unfortunately got a better understanding of what she might have experienced raising you as a single mom. I think we all realize how difficult it is to be a parent, under any circumstance. The parents who really try to do a good job are all heroes when you come down to it.
I'm glad you were able to communicate this to your mom, and to see her acknowledgement that you understand her better.
I wish you and your family a good day tomorrow :)

Btw, that quote was from Mark Twain:
When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.
Have a Blessed Christmas!
