This weekend the kids and I were going to go Zip lining and celebrate Jim being fathers day and all.  Well my daughter gave me the news that she is pregnant and will not be able to participate, but will watch. She is barely at 6 weeks so she really was not ready to tell me yet. I was so overwhelmed with excitement but then reality set in.  I just wanted to be grandparents together and spoil our first like everyone else. Oh yeah and I am not really supposed to tell all my friends.  Biggest secret ever!  He was my go to with secrets. Now I am just holding it in. Thankful for the amonymity here because this secret is going to get the best of me.

I can so relate to this. My daughter got pregnant with our first grandchild 3 months after we lost my husband. She told me on the day we found out his sister suddenly passed away at age 55, four months after him. Talk about a crazy day! My husband would have been the perfect grandfather, he loved kids and had what my daughter called "substitute grandkids". He'd always tease me when I talked about our future "grandbabies". The most amazing, bittersweet day of my life was the day she was born. It was his first anniversary! I met my granddaughter at 3 am and visited his grave at 3 pm. Talk about the highs and lows of life in the same day! It was difficult going through all of this while still mourning him BUT my 20 month old granddaughter is the absolute love of my life. You have much to look forward to. Enjoy the blessing and cherish each moment!

How exciting! I know you are having sad thoughts about not being able to share this with you husband. I am so glad you shared it with us. I am rejoicing with you!

Congratulations! I fully understand. My late husband had very few dying regrets. One was he would not meet his daughter's children. Three years after he passed, our daughter gave birth to her first child. When our granddaughter was a year old, one day when I was visiting, she was staring off and said, "Bye Papa". I mentioned this to my daughter and she said it is weird, she has done that a few times. We have never referred to my late husband by any name except her Mama's Daddy. She is a very special little girl and her "Papa" watches over her and is here in Spirit! This is the comfort I find and wish you comfort.
