I saw Ryan O'Neal yesterday on Oprah. She asked him how it is for him since his beloved Farrah passed a year ago. He let her know that it hadn't gotten any easier. So sad, but so true of most of us here. It's been 6 months for me, but I know six months from now, I'll still be missing my Love. I know I'll eventually learn to live with the missing, but that's it. I'm facing the fact that life is not just going to go on as if nothing happened. It's not going to be like when I lost my grandmother. I'd built a life with DH. I'd planned a future. Now, I'm living that future and he's not here. Even using the word I is difficult.

It has been 9 weeks for me and I still wake up every morning surprised that he isn't here. Blessings to all of us. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to live through.

I really wanted to see the show yesterday, but I don't get home from work in time.

I'm in my 17th month and my emotions have leveled out to some degree. I still ride the roller coaster, but the hills and valleys aren't as steep as they once were. It's like riding the kiddy coaster now.

I miss absolutely everything about my husband.

One Griefshare lesson related the importance of naming your losses. That was a big one for me -- i had poured so much hope into a future with my B. Life was such a joy with her -- I wanted 24/7 relationship forever. But I could cope better with the grief once I identified what was going on under the surface (and by no means do i claim to be in complete contact with my emotions and thoughts).

A pronoun I love to encounter as I look back on documents she wrote or memories of her: Our. A noun: family. i.e., i still feel so good to have been a couple with her. To be united as family.
