Two weeks ago today I lost my wife and best friend, Lisa. I knew her for 29 yrs and Married for just over 18. She was 45 and had been sick for some time. Doesn't make it easier. I have spent the morning calling banks, insurance, credit cards, ect. and it really hit home she is gone. I just miss her so much........

I am so very sorry you lost your wife. This is the most difficult thing we all have to endure. In the beginning I remember feeling so numb I could barely cry. It took me about a month for the numbness to wear off. Just take one day as it comes, and when that's too much, one hour or minute at a time. The paperwork can be overwhelming and yet it gives us a chance to be busy so our mind is occupied. If it's too much see if someone can help you. Not all of it needs to be done immediately. I still miss my husband so very much after 2 years but the grief changes in that most of the time I'm ok. Sometimes I'm not, but more often I am. There are groups that can help, Griefshare is one and many churches and hospitals can refer you to a bereavement group that can offer help. God Bless. Marybeth

I feel your pain my friend. I lost my wife two and a half months ago after a year long battle with colon cancer. Once you start tending to all of the legal stuff, it really does hit home. For a while, it was way too overwhelming, so I just tried to accomplish one thing per day, and finally, after six weeks it was all done. Even after ten weeks I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that she is never coming back. In that time I've come to realize that she was always way to good for me and I feel extraordinarily fortunate I was able to share twenty three years of marriage with her. I wish I could tell you this gets easier, but if I did, I'd be a liar. However, I can tell you that after a time, it does somehow become tolerable. Fortunately, I have three daughters still at home to help keep me grounded. We all miss her more than words can say, but know she'd want us to go to in her absence, as hard as it can be at times. I hope you can begin to find peace in the days, weeks, and months ahead. I wish you well, friend.
