This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
After losing my partner in May 2007, I became a member of my local spiritualist church in Salem, MA. It is called the First Spiritualist Church Of Salem.
Part of the services are receiving messages from spirit either though a medium or from an enfoldment group where you develop your abilities to become more sensitive to the spirit world.
I am in touch with my partner in numerous ways through signs and sensing his presence every night and have become much more fond of the spirit world than this physical plane. I have had many dreams of him called visitations where he looks just as he did when he was here in the physical body.
From my experience, it is wonderful to remain in contact with him, but it also makes me want to be with him in the physical sense. No matter how much I know that he is alive in spirit, his physical absence is always there and is so very hard to deal with each day.
Similar to others, I have quickly realized that Tom cannot be replaced. The joy and hope that my soulmate gave me is so unique. It breaks my heart everyday realizing that others that I have met may have a similar quality, but the whole package isn't there and therefore no potential for a relationship. I hope I am not alone forever.
Have others had spiritual experiences? I am lucky to have had an excellent medium, but MORE importantly, I have become much more sensitive to Tom and as a result, have an ongoing spiritual connection which will always be there and will continue when I am reunited in spirit with Tom forever.
By the way, yes, when we are reunited, it will feel just as physical as it did when we were on this plane because I will no longer be in the body and he's not in the body, but we will have our spirit bodies (also know as the ethereal).

Yes I have had a few signs from my dear Mark. I have not seen him in spirit but I have seen him in my dreams and strange occurances have happened. One a few days after he died in November of 08 and a couple in December and one the other day that I wasn't prepared for but in my heart I know it was a sign. James, Mark was my soulmate and from what I've learned from some of the people here it is possible to find love again after losing a loved one.I am nowhere near ready for that yet but I would like to think that I have more love to give at some point in the future. I am only 46 now and I can't see myself being alone with my son until The end of my days. That's a long long time to be lonely. I've also learned that time helps us get used to our life without our soulmate. Baby steps day by day will get you through. I know that is the only way for me get through otherwise I get way too stressed thinking about what is going to happen in my future. Keep the faith and try to keep a positive outlook I'm sure that will help you as well as your church.
