Progressing toward a New Chapter

I have to express again how thankful I am to have all of you in my life, how much it means that there are caring and loving people who are genuinely concerned. I felt all of your prayers and thoughts and they were enthusiastically received. It gave me hope to think about selling my home and moving into a Senior facility where I can be around others when i get lonely. My daughters set up two appointments and we took tours on Saturday. I have some concerns, one of which the first facility wants $200,000 as an entrance fee. There are some that don't require the fee, but the rents can range from 3,095.0 to 3500.00 a month. where most amenities are included. So, my daughters have set up about twelve more to tour. i will keep you informed. To my Daily Strength family, thank you and i appreciate you so very much.

I hope you find a place you like. Being around other people is definitely a good thing. I went to a small dinner party tonight and I feel better than I have felt in a year.

I am glad you are making progress and that your daughters are helping you. That first place sounds outrageous, so I am glad you all are looking around for more options. I hope you find a good spot to settle in. Keeping you in my good thoughts and prayers....

Praised...good luck on the search....I don't know exactly where you guys are looking but like most things in Illinois..the farther from the city the better the price and south is always cheaper than north ..when I was looking for a place for my father in law I found some communities had where you could buy your own home but had the assisted living cost that wasn't too high

It is good that your daughters are going with you. I agree a 200,000 up front fee sounds outrageous. My mom sold her place 3 years ago and moved to seniors complex that offered meals, and she is very happy there. Lots of activities and company when you want it. Good luck on the search! Patti

Sometimes it takes an upheaval, to get us to make decisions.
Sounds like you are moving forward with help from your daughters.
Unfortunately, some of these independent residences cost a fortune.
You will find exactly what you need, in time. I'm excited for you!

I am glad to see you are moving forward . MY MIL has been living in a senior complex for 4 years now and there were no entree fees. $200 000 seems quite steep IMO. MIL loves where she is as it's easy to get her privacy when she wants to but going down for meals and the activities gives her the much needed socializing. We have seen her bloom since she has moved in.
