Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
As for what to expect, you should expect someone caring who understands why you are there and knows how to help you work through it. You should expect for the tears to flow.
Around my third year I began private counseling. I asked my primary doctor who he would recommend. I felt I was hibernating in my grief. Try as I did, I couldn't find any pleasure in life. The more I searched the more hopeless I felt. Finally I admitted, I needed help to figure out how to live again.
My counselor was great. He helped me find my own self worth and instilled my courage to move forward without guilt and with confidence.
Usually you don't have to ask, or I didn't. We just talked. I felt comfortable with him from the beginning because he was recommended by my family doctor. Sharon
