Peace to all at Thanksgiving

I just want to share my wish for peace for everyone during the Thanksgiving holiday. Although I was deep in my grief one year ago, and I recall very little about Thanksgiving or Christmas in 2013, I feel that with the encouragement of friends here on DS, I have taken quite a few steps in a good direction. My heart is still heavy and I miss Sam so very much, but I have learned that life must go on.

I have been so very glad to see posts & comments lately from some of my friends who walked beside me from the beginning on this difficult journey. I am so grateful to be able to stay in touch with all of you through DS.

Thank you for your good wishes and may I wish you a graceful, easy Thanksgiving time.

My Morey died in April, 2013 and when Thanksgiving came around and then Christmas and New Years I just didn't have the heart and soul to celebrate in any way.

We collected decorations over our years together but I still don't want to put anything up......not yet! I love to see everyone else's beautiful decorations and it does make me smile when I see all the colored lights. My life just doesn't feel so colorful these days!

Happy Thanksgiving to all on this wonderful DS forum. This is my first Thanksgiving without my husband who passed in March. Trying to make the best of the holiday and making a gratitude list. Doing something different this year and eating out with some friends and not going to my family. They understood I did not want to drive hours in traffic. I have no family in local area. All good and trying to be positive and slowly make a new life for myself. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Much peace.....

GOBBLE GOBBLE . . . It's Thanksgiving! I'm finding my first holiday without hubby sad, but also finding solace and peace in continuity of carrying on with my traditions helps. Making my fave pie and other recipes, putting up the tree, watching the MACY'S TD PARADE . . . helps to reaffirm that although part of me is missing . . . I am still here. Wishing all DS friends and family a peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving. xo Dayna

Happy Thanksgiving, a little late my friend. Like you mentioned, such a difference this Thanksgiving, compared to the last. The sadness is still there, but the sharpness of the pain has decreased, and the waves of grief are less frequent. It is my sincere wish, and belief, that all of us sharing this most devastating life event, will continue to heal and find strength and comfort in each other. God bless you all.
