Hi everyone. Hope all is well with all of you. I need a bit of advise from all of you. I donated my husbands organs when he passed away last July. I received a letter in the mail last Friday that stated the recipient wanted to meet me and have a picture of the man who saved his life. I want to meet him but,was wondering if any of you have been in the same position and how you handled it.

My husband was an organ donor but had been gone to long when I had found him to donate.. I think that is a wonderful thing.I would have some family or close friends go with me but I would go. What a wonderful thing your husband was able to do for someone he didnt even know. God Bless.

I think I would want to meet the person that was saved by the man I loved with all my heart. What a beautiful gift, he lives on. I do agree with Sandie, I would want someone with me that I could lean on. Good luck with your decision and let us know what you have decided. - Love, Hugs and Prayers - Sherri

My husband, Don, was able to donate his eyes. They couldn't use any of his other organs because of his exposure to Agent Orange during Viet Nam. If I ever get the opportunity to meet the person who was helped by his death, I would most definitely do it. I would probably take a good friend with me because it would probably be very emotional. Good luck! -Linda

I donated my husband's organs and we did meet one of the men that he gave a kidney to. It was just wonderful and it helped me so much to know that part of Phils lived on. It was also very touching to see and hear this man's appreciation for his returned health.

I would love to meet the people who are able to see because of my husbands eyes, they can see all the beauty that he can not. Because of my husbands skin someone can feel good about them selves because their skin has begun to heal. And because of my husbands heart valvues will help another person to know the joys of life.

My husband was an organ recipient - while it was from a living donor (his brother)it does not diminish in any way the gratitude that he and I felt at this indescribable gift. I intend to be an organ donor - maaybe while I still live - in order to "pay forward" the gift that we received. Jeff died one day short of the 18th anniversary of his kidney transplant and I gave a card to Andy (at Jeff's wake) thanking him for those 18 years he gave us... you are in my heart, Susan

My husband also donated his organs but I have not heard anything from the people who received them. Maybe it is to soon he died in 12/2007. I think it was really nice that this man wants to thank you. If you do go take someone with you it can be very emotional from what I have been told. I myself would like to meet someone that my husband helped it likes having a part of him still here I guess.
