This morning one year ago is the day I received a call on my husband's passing overseas. I missed him so much. I am having our daughters and the grand children over to dinner. The son-in-laws are working. It will be the first time the new baby coming to grandpa's home. I am hoping grandpa is watching over the baby and the rest of the grandkids. I was hoping to dream of my husband so that I know he is okay, so far dreams are few now. Surprisingly, I am feeling normal today. Wishing everyone a good day today.

I am glad you are feeling 'normal'. Its good you have plans for the day/evening. It seem the leading up to that one year is more difficult than the actual day, for me it seemed so. I now will see if that is true in 5 months at 2 years. Best wishes and hope you see him in your dreams

I hope the day continues to be "normal" for you. I have also found that the anxiety leading up to a "big day" has been worse than the acctual day. I hope you see him in your dreams, but know that you can always see him in your mind. And I am sure when your grandkids come over to Grandma's house, you will fill the room with wonderful stories about Grandpa. I hope you have wonderful day, and enjoy your daughters and grandkids tonight!

Tomorrow, 5/17, will be one year since my husband passed unexpectedly. It is still so hard for me to believe that this has happened. When I got home after work, my daughter, who lives with me at present, told me she was having a hard time and she broke down crying. She said she misses Dad so much and just wants to give him a hug. Of course this made me break down too...I think each of us tries to be strong for the other and hold it in sometimes. But she will eventually move out when she's done with grad school and I dread when that day comes. I miss hugging him too, and I really did depend on him to take care of so many things. Yes, you really DON'T realize what you had until it's gone.

The first anniversary came and gone. I missed my husband. I thought the dinner I made would just be for the girls, grandchildren and I, but one son-in-law took time off and the other came home early for the dinner. I was glad to have the whole family together to celebrate his life. I have not cooked for the most part of the year. I thought my cooking might have gone bad, instead they liked my cooking. I changed my mind and invited my-in-laws one last time. The day ended well overall.
