My husband left on a business trip on May 2 2012 and died overseas on May 16, 2012. Much anticipated anniversary is coming head on.
I had a flash back this morning walking with him in the Malaysian airport terminal. He was showing me the counter where he bought a necklace for me on his previous trip. This got me thinking and reflecting the last 6 months to a year of our life together was so full of joy. He took me to see Nutcracker even though we didn't really like ballet but we actually enjoyed the show. We went to Europe in August 2011 and I hurt my back sleeping on bad hotel beds. He's so thoughtful and carry much of the luggage and helped me get up from the chairs, found the best fish and chips place in London. We walked hand in hand to see the Prague Castle at night. In October 2011, our daughters gave us a 60th birthday party with close friends and families. We had a gift for an overnight stay at Monterey Bay bed and breakfast. We strolled along the shore just enjoying each other's company. Get to celebrate the last 2011 Thanksgiving and Christmas with families. In Feb 2012, he took us to Arizona to visit Grand Canyon and Sedona, the places he always wanted to visit. It was a spectacular sight.
On May 2, 2012 the plane was late for 6 hours. He called me to get him so we could go to lunch together in San Francisco. We had our last meal together. I dropped him off after lunch, we both glanced to see each other off and that was the last look of our life. It is sad now without him. As I look back, God has given us the final chance of a life time to be with each other's company, to live our life to the fullest before it was gone.
