Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

HOPE to see everyone soon!!
Hugs, Joely
I'll think positive for both things: (1) that your sister will heal and do well, and (2) that she will be doing well enough that you will feel free to hop in your car and head for Ohio.
Keep us posted as to how she is doing. After reading your journal entry about the ordeal she went through, I'm not sure I could be upright by now. She must have a huge dose of endurance. TJ

Received a new girl in my HS special ed reading and English class who does not know the alphabet, can only read one word - "no", yet she has been in my district all her life and is in 9th grade. I'm supposed to teach her to read even though I have 9 other kids and no assistant. Was at work 13 hrs to prepare for my days off.
Took my son to the neurologist yesterday (he had a 20 minute seizure recently) and my son is insisting the meds recommended make him feel so horrible he's made the decision not to take them. I'm not too comfortable with that decision and his girlfriend and I argued with him for some time.
Raced from the doctors to the courthouse to take my daughter to court for underage drinking (blood alcohol less than .03 - a little more than 1 beer). - she does not drive - she was with friends. Police said it was a minor ticket since it was her first offense and there would be no fine since she didn't have a job but she would get lots of community service and "we understand kids can make a mistake once". Was a nervous wreck and then shocked to hear the judge say "this is a serious offense in IL and you must get a lawyer and return in 2 months". Luckily, got a lawyer who was already there and they agreed to handle it then. (Without a lawyer she would not be able to get a license till 21 and she'd have a conviction the rest of her life - wow - and she's only 16 and drank 1 beer.) My daughter is mad a me and said last night "don't ever speak to me again".
Went to the MD 2 days ago (took my daughter too - who had an infection also) to renew a prescription and told my blood pressure was high, my blood sugar was very high and my thyroid was very low. Another blood test will determine if I go on thyroid meds.
Today my husband's ashes will be buried in a crypt at a nearby cemetary. Picked them up from the funeral home last night. I'm more upset about this than I thought it would be. I had hoped my daughter and son would read the poems they wrote but they are both refusing - oh well.
Don't worry that I won't get to Indiana on time - at this rate I'll be racing out of here and pounding on Lori's door at 3 AM. I REALLY NEED A VACATION AWAY!!
If you also need to get away - consider joining us.

I'm sorry that you can't be here also. At each Gathering I've attended, I've met amazing, strong, and caring people. I always leave with the knowledge that I have been truly blessed to have found DS. I hope we will meet again at a future Gathering. Blessings. TJ
I hear ya!!!! Drive safely when you head out of your house. Breathe, breathe, and soak in the sunshine and the joy of traveling somewhere other than home from work. See ya soon. TJ
