Re my earlier post for an Ohio Autumn GatheringI ran into a little snag.
After checking with the motel that I use for our family reunions, I was disappointed to find that they are full for the weekend of November 12-14. The motel is located adjacent to a Convention Centre that is hosting a 'big ole Blue Grass wing ding' on that weekend.
This news brought me to a couple of choices:
(1) move the Ohio Autumn DS Gathering one week forward to November 5-7, and use this motel (very nice but no Continual Breakfast) that is 9 miles away (10-minute drive), cost $99.00 plus tax; or,
(2) if this causes a conflict for those hoping to join the Gathering, I could reserve a block of rooms in another motel for the original weekend of November 12-14, (very nice and has hot Continental Breakfast included) that is about 20 miles away (a 21-minute drive [I checked it out]) cost $80.00 plus tax.
I would have to move fast on either, as they fill up quickly due to the Conference Centre as well as both being right off ramps of Rt. 71 (a well traveled route from Cincinnati to Columbus, Ohio).
I don't want this to be the cause of someone not being able to attend and that is why I am coming to you with this information. I guess I'm getting used to all the variables in the life of a widow/widower and am trying to stay flexible.

I am in Xenia, Ohio. As far as the plans go, I am thinking of the Gathering here at my home for Saturday, a bonfire in the evening (S'mores and yummy stuff), and great conversations while getting to know one another.
If others are coming in on Friday, we can meet for dinner someplace close. That worked out great at the IN/Chicago Gathering for those who arrived early.
If there are those who want to stay a day or so extra, there are some neat places to visit that would be fun. I'm waiting to see how many might be interested in a local side trip or two. It will depend on the interest.

I am calling the motel tomorrow to reserve a block of rooms. I will post details as soon as the deal is sealed, and then you all can call and make your reservations.
