Ohio Autumn DS Gathering

Hi all. The opportunity for an Ohio Gathering was presented during a couple of chats with DSers, so I jumped at the chance to pull one together. We DSers are so scattered that there are many who haven't had the chance to attend the Philly, IN/Chicago, or So Cal Gatherings. So here's one in the heart of our nation that maybe will be close enough for many to attend. Sure hope so.

Due to the holidays and the undependable weather we can have in Ohio from December through March, November seemed to be the best target for the Gathering. The date suggested was Saturday, November 13, which wouldn't bump into the Thanksgiving holiday week. How's that sound to all of you? I know it is on the heels of the Alabama Gatheringof which I am planning on attending and can't wait to meet everyone in their neck of the woods.

For those who would have the opportunity to stay longer and enjoy some just plain fun hangin' out together, that would be WONDERFUL to schedule a few extra days at the motel. There are some neat things we could enjoy around the area, and I'm envisioning a bonfire on a cool Autumn eveningS'mores anyone? A nice motel is not too far from where I live, so convenience is no problem. As someone joked about me being on a farm, I assured them that the motel had indoor plumbing, as does the farma little country humor from this Buckeye!!!!

I'm looking forward to your replies as to whether this is a doable date and if there is enough interest. The circle keeps growing! TJ

I might consider this...if I can get someone to watch my farm and kids. It would make for a nice bike ride; however, I would not be staying long as I do have kids. I will think about this. Do not be afraid to tell me if I wouldn't fit in. Not everyone wants to hang out with an Irish girl on a Harley. :) Kaaren

Oh Kaaren, your fears couldn't be further from the truth. We would love to have the opportunity to meet you. Age is a matter of the mind most of the time. You may be surprised what a hoot we older ones can be. In fact, you may have trouble keeping up with us; well, maybe that's a stretch :>)!! I know you would fit right in, so don't even consider that it would be otherwise. It would be great to have you. I know it means a lot of hassle, making arrangements for your children, but please try and make it happen. I look forward to meeting you. TJ

It may help for you to know that I live in Xenia, Ohio, which is 22 miles from Dayton, Ohio. Hope this helps when you check out the mileage on the map or with your GPS. TJ

TJ - I'm marking it on my calendar and will need to make arrangements for someone to stay with the kids. I'm only about an hour or so from Xenia in Cincinnati so that would work great for me. I'm hoping to make the Alabama trip too, but again, need to work out arrangements for the boys.

I would love to make a road trip like that - it's only about 8 hours or so from Atlanta, I think. Could you'all stand a little Southern influence in the crowd ?? LOLOL

Sounds great - I'm looking forward to seeing you in AL in October too. Should be a great weekend to be at the State Park - beautiful fall weather and scenery.

So - I'm not going to get stuck in a snowstorm or anything in OH in November, am I ? LOL

Nay, the snow fluffies typically show themselves much later in the winter. I'm thinking a "crisp" day and maybe a nice crackling fire in the fireplace. Sounds relaxing, huh? TJ

I haven't had S'mores in forever, so we will both be lickin' our chops. Glad you can come visit Buckeyeland. As promised to Susan, I'll make bunches of ginger snaps for munchies. What a great memory of the IN/Chicago Gathering with all the cookies we consumed.

Thanks for the nice comment on my photo. That was taken last Wednesday when the family traveled to SC to see our grandson at basic training. See ya in Alabama in October. TJ

Sounds wonderful. Will have to think about this - if I can make the trip from Canada. I did not know there were any get-togethers planned. What a wonderful way to connect!
