I do the same Rick, it's so not fair. My wife has been by far the youngest, by 25-45 years in the obituaries in our local paper. It hurts so much to think what we could have experienced, together, the next 30 or more years. How much love was left to give. It's not fair, I know. Hang in there bud.

Yes I do the same thing Rick. My husband was 56 when he passed 6 weeks ago, I meet a woman today who is 92 and I ask God why? We had so many plans for after he received a lung transplant and after I was retired. Now all those dreams and plans are gone.

I do the same thing. If someone was younger than Dave, I feel grateful to have had him until age 67. If they are older, I feel cheated.

I don't barely watch the news anymore either. I do feel cheated. Tony was only 61 . We were looking forward to him retiring. That didn't get to happen and I still ask why.

I don't read the obits, but my younger (autistic) son is obsessed with them since Cliff's death. It's like he is trying to make sense of why his Dad died. Everytime some celebrity or even near-celebrity dies, he asks me if I knew that person died and then tells me how they died. It is his way of making sense of the loss I guess. My guys watched me try CPR to save Cliff and were witness to his sudden death. We are all scarred from the experience, and reading the obits I guess is his way of trying to normalize the experience or put it into context. It's uncomfortable for me, but I can't tell my son not to do this as it helps him cope.

Cliff was only 55 when he died of a heart attack - his first, last, and only. He always said that he would have to live to 125 in order to do everything he wanted to do. 55 was way, way too young....
