Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I'm sorry for your loss. You must be in such a state of shock. Let it happen, is all I can say right now.
I know exactly what you're going through. That fog and haze that feels like your life is a protective shield. It happens so that you don't get overwhelmed and bombarded with too much, too soon!
My fog hung around for a long time and I'm grateful for that.
My Morey had a central nervous system stroke. One day he could walk, talk and be normal and the next day he was a whole different man; he couldn't walk, his speech was slurred and his vision was blurred. Life had totally changed for him and, as you can imagine, for me and our children as well! From the day he was whisked off to the ER to 17 days later, he was gone!
How can someone so vital be gone, so quickly, no warning. Where is my man, my strength.
Hang on to the roller coaster of emotions ride that you will be on. Expect it and don't expect too much out of yourself.
You will need to take care of business, paperwork, paperwork; things that must get done. WHY? Because, like goes on!
I hate those words, I don't do well when people remind me of them. My brain knows all of it.......My heart is so fragmented, it doesn't seem like I'll ever take a deep breath again!
Hang on, we're here, express your feelings and don't worry about us.
I wish you peace,
Roz

I really feel the pain, when new people tell me of their loss. Saying"I am so sorry" doesn't quite cut it.....however I really am sorry.
i understand what you mean.....you have a whirlwind of support, for a short time, then we are expected to go on like nothing happened.
That's why I am glad you joined us. I know you are in a safe place, to get all your emotions out !!
Unfortunately, it takes some time to start, the healing process.
It's been 6 months for me, I know I have a long way to go! However, I can say, the numbness has gone, I find at this stage, I just miss my husband so much, it sometimes unbearable, but I know life goes on.
You gave so much support here, thanks for being part if our "family"
Hugs for you,
Sandra.

One thing I have learned from friends I made here on this site and from the GriefShare group I attend is this . . . each person's grief is different. Oh yes, there are similarities, but each of us must move through grief in whatever way is best, whatever way is unique to each of us.
Some of the best advice I received here was to take good care of my health, get adequate rest, and cry when I needed to. I'll also recommend that you come here to DS often, even if it's only to read what others are saying. This is a caring community!
Wishing you peace . . .
