Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
We had season tickets to the theatre. I thought I would just let them expire and not renew. Well now I've decided to renew and take the kids or grandkids with me. This is my special night with them, and I think of Dave as I go...I've cried the first few times, but now I think warmly of Dave and know he is there with us.
I garden and maintain our pond. I have much work to do, but I still try and I do get a warm feeling when I complete a project. I feel closer to him. So one day soon, I will take one of the kids with me and do some antiquing or just walk downtown, go to the beach etc. We just need to keep ourselves busy until we are reunited again. My best to you and all the widows and widowers here. Take care.
Yes, you are right Alfy when you say that we need to keep busy with our lives without our physical loved ones. This not only keeps the grief at bay, but also helps to build new meaning into our shattered lives.
Before Tom's death, I didn't think much about death, but now it has been forced on me. This has resulted in me becoming a spiritualist, when before I was a pragmatist.
Yes, we will meet our loved ones one day, when our time comes. I know this not just from seeing the medium, but more important from my own spiritual experiences.
