Hi,
This is all new to me. My husband suddenly died of a massive heart attack on 23rd May, he was 61, I met him when I was 16, we were married 38 years and was coping ok until yesterday when I had to euthanise his 13 year old dog Conan who was a member of our family.
My children are both married with their own families and I don't want to bother them.
I am in a fog and find it rather difficult, been having counselling but want to know if I will ever feel 'normal' again.
Thank you for this forum - it helps to read that I am not the only one out there feeling crappy.

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

I am fairly new to the grieving road, but from my short experience and also reading posts on this site, you will find that there are some really bad days and sometimes some easier days when you think "I might be ok", only to be followed by an even worse day than you experienced before. A bit like one step forward and two steps backwards.
For me the fog lifting, or rather going back to real life, happened at the end of three month mark. But we are all different and, I am sure, there is no fast rule. I am now not sure if there ever will be a return to "normal" because our normal has been altered forever and we will have to achieve a new "normal". I cannot put a timescale on this because I do not know myself. I yearn to be feeling at peace and happy and "normal" but I am a long way from that yet. I live in hope though because I have chosen life.
It is very true when we are advised to take a day at the time and to be kind to ourselves. I am not very good at following advice, even my own, but I can see the value in it.
The only thing I can do is to wish you courage and try to get help from the people closest to you, hopefully they will be supportive. At this time in our life we need all the support we can get.
Big hugs. Viviane.
I am at 4 1/2 months. We started going together at 15, and married at 16, next week would have been our 48th wedding anniversary.
The fog is lifting for me. And I miss the numbness it brought to my pain. It makes you feel raw again. You will never feel normal again, but will have to begin a new normal. Our lives have changed, and we will have to adapt. I am sorry to say that. But I have read on here that people have gotten on with some degree of their lives. I look forward to that day.
I am so sorry you had to join our sad group, but you are in good company here. We all understand where you are, and where you are going down this road.

The fog is normal, I think it's the brains way of protecting us for awhile. I'm at 4 months, the fog has lifted a little.
Be patient and don't push yourself, just take it one day at a time. You'll find alot of great support.

That would be like trying to get over most of my life. I'm not moving on, I prefer to live in the past. I wish you sweet dreams of him.
getting slowly through all the necessary paperwork with lawyers, accountant etc. We had our own retail business which I am in the process of winding up, It is very difficult to have to deal with all the legalities when my husband did all this stuff.
My adult children are great, I have a 16 month old grandson who my husband adored, visiting him every morning on the way to work and it is so sad he cannot share with me the unbelievable joy he brings to me. I have a grandchild coming in September from my son and daughter in law and my daughter has announced that she is expecting in April 2014. So I have plenty to look forward to - how life changes.
The hardest is getting up to go to bed each night, and coming home to an empty house. I go to bed and scroll through photos on the ipad before going to sleep, and last night dreamed we were in our business - he was alive - and I told him "I am so glad all your clothes are still in the wardrobe, you have all your clothes and shoes.
I suppose I am just dealing with it all in my dreams.
Anyway
Little things set me back, and I am slowly learning to cry when I feel like crying, and to let the feelings just flow.
Thank you again for this wonderful site, it really helps to see I am not alone and this gives me much comfort.
Thankyou all,
