Its 8 months today since I lost my husband, I still tear up at times when something will remind me of him, which is usually several times a day, I try to discipline my thoughts when it happens to keep myself from getting too sad. I try to keep my mind occupied and rely on my faith in God to get me through each day. but I still don't have much of a sense of purpose as I was caretaker for my husband for the last 12 years. I meditate on Scripture if I start to feel anxious and God's promises become more of a reality to me than how I feel. I am 68 but work part time but my hours and workload vary, last week I only worked 5 hours so I haven't been doing much of anything for the last few days. I don't feel much need to go to any kind of counseling because there is nothing anyone can say or do that can keep me from missing him and that is what is the hardest part for me, I know I will see him again when I pass, but its hard to think about life without him in the meantime.

I feel the same way. I cry in the mall, I cry while driving, I cry at certain words I hear. I also pray a lot and talk to my husband also, it helps somewhat. I was also caretaker of my husband and I am seeking work to secure my stability but somehow I think more about him not being here than caring about working. I know with God I will be able to move forward in due time.

Im so sorry for your loss. Its going on 7 weeks since I lost my husband and everyday it just seems I am getting further and further from him. Missing him more today than the day before. Everyday. I cry all the time. Coming to the group gives me hope and a weird sense of comfort so feel free to write as much as you feel you can and engage with others because you are not alone and among people who can relate. It is hard so feel free to go through the pain and grief. Im so sorry. I pray God will strengthen you.

I am also a fairly new widow. I have moments that take my breath away and others that leave me feeling comfort. I am finding that reading scripture comforts me. I have few friends that are widows, so talking with them is difficult, as they have no way of knowing what this pain is like. I am also sure that I will heal. Here you are able to talk with folks that are going through or have been through what you are. Expressing your feelings here is much easier. I pray that the Lord will be with you and that he will give you strength.

Yep I'm still feeling it's all too surreal. Almost five weeks now since I lost my husband. Life will never be the same but I have been told that I will walk along beside my grief in due time.

I am so sorry for your loss. It hasn't even been a month for you, so everything is still very raw. I am glad you found this board, although sorry you had to find it. Hopefully you will find some help/peace/strength/encouragement here.

I am sorry for your loss. I too have lost a love one and understand the void and loneliness that comes with it. The good news is your not alone, there are those who also hurt and who understand because they have experienced the same thing you have. When my loved one died, I had to find a way to deal with the loss, so what I did was try to bring a smile to others. This act made me realize that I had something to contribute to others which helped me feel less pain. Also don't let yourself feel guilty when you start to feel better, it is ok to still miss them but remember the good times you got to share.

It has been six weeks sine my husband passed and I was his caretaker as well. I feel lost myself because life has changed drastically. My day was working the I would come home to take care of him. The house is very still and lonely. I cry a lot and but I am going to rely on the Lord to help me through this time of grief.
