Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
My husband died in February of Parkinson's which he had for 12 year. He was only 70 when he died and we were married almost 50 years. I looked after him for the past 5 year but last year it became a crisis and I couldn't handle looking after him even though I had help coming in. He was in a nursing home for 8 months and couldn't walk and they had to feed him.
I am getting along okay, but think of him all the time. I try to stay busy, but the nights are the hardest.
We still have to bury him but it won't be until August when my girls can come home. I know it would have been better to bury him after the funeral, but during the winter they don't bury cremated remains because of the frozen ground.
We made a slide show of pictures for the visitation and funeral. I have a copy which I seem to look at it every day but it makes me sad. Should I not look at it? I also have pictures around the house of him too. It only been a short time since his death, so maybe time will help too, but it's hard as you all know.
