Thank you God, I found this support group because I am struggling right now. My husband Chuy passed away on 8/31/2015. We dated for 9 years and 3 years married. He was a very sick guy for most of his life. My husband had leukemia when he was 5 years and had chemo, radiation, and bone marrow transplant. He was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of ten. He did pretty well for 20 years until he ended up in the hospital one month before we were supposed to be married which was when he was diagnosed with kidney failure. The past three years were very bad. I lost count how many emergency visit, surgeries, minor procedures, and hospital stays he had. In June, his condition worsen because he couldn't breathe and having chest pain. He had to have open heart surgery which had A LOT of complications due to his health condition. His open heart surgery lasted 12 hours and when the surgeon came out he told us he didn't think he was going to make it. My husband fought to the end, He was in the hospital for 3 months and half of the time he was in the surgical ICU. I was afraid I was going to have to make the decision of disconnecting him but thank God! He went on his own.
I thought was doing pretty good. My family and friends have been very supported since he passed away. Plus going to therapy was helping out. I was able to survive Thanksgiving because I had a lot of support from family and friends. On Tuesday was my birthday and it hit me so bad. My mother spend the day with me which helped a little bit. I thought about the 12 years we were together he always made my bday special. I really thought I could make it to the six months without breaking down because I know he wouldn't like me to break down. My husband NEVER ever let his diseases bring him down. When things got horrible he was the one always having the positive attidue and joking around so I know he is giving me the strength to make it.
I miss him so much, missing the text messages, the phone calls but most the touching been able to hug him kiss him but reading everyone posted here is giving me strength to make it today.
