Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Hello,
My husband passed away in May from brain cancer. I visited this page several times during my earliest grief. I think I am ready now. I have many close friends who have been wonderful, but I have found in reading the posts here that I can relate to what you are saying and how you are feeling.
I was looking forward to continuing with the happy life I had, however, I find myself starting over again. You live your life with a certain set of expectations, but those can be dashed rather quickly. So, I feel like I am in an empty space or a void. It seems very surreal because I normally try to be positive and to find some happiness in every day.
I keep myself busy with work and I have children and grandchildren, so I feel blessed with that.
I am happy to have made the plunge to join this group. I don't think I am a go-to-a-meeting support group type of person. I wrestle with dealing with the grief on my own rather than feeling like I might stay stuck in grief if I attend a meeting. Or, maybe I am just not ready for that. This seems safer to me...like I dipped my toe in the water. I always like to keep moving forward, but there are days that i feel stuck too.
I look forward to participating with you.
Best...
