I am sorry for the loss of your wife and of your grandmother. Thank -you for your reply.
It just feels like after a over decade of putting every ounce of strength into fighting for my husbands life. I have no more strength in me any longer.
But, it is the extreme loniless that is so hard to bear.My life was so different that what it was when he was healthy that friends/family etc just did not fell comfortable keeping in touch any longer.
Today it is just good to know I am not alone with no one to talk to.Lisa
Thank- you for your kind words. ?I am very sorry for your recent loss.
I feel somewhat guilty about posting here because it has been three years since my husband passed.
Leaning on people who are suffering a much more recent loss seems a bit selfish of me.
Yet ,I lived in isolation for over decade while taking care of him. I wish I was stronger and better able to adapt. But, the lonliness can be overwhelming.Lisa
After being isolated for so long, and not having much support/social contact, it's not too surprising that you feel the need to speak to others that would understand what it's like. My loss is different from yours - Cliff's death was sudden and unexpected - but I understand the heartache and the heartbreak. I am sorry you needed to be here, but I am glad you found us. Welcome.

Thank you, I am so sorry your husband passed away from ALS as well,as well.
My husband chose the vent , feeding tube etc. it was overwhelming at first to learn how to handle the equipment but just became automatic after awhile. He spoke and communicated with a speech computer.
Last two year of his life we basically lived in an ICU .
I just feel like part of me was lost with him when he passed, life itself has completely been redefined. It feels as if there is no such thing as normal any longer. Lisa
Sorry to hear about your loss and that you as well are having a hard time coping years later.
Please don't worry about bringing me down, I think that is impossible right now. Just knowing others are experiencing the same sort of feelings helps. Lisa
I am so sorry I misread your post earlier. It was your friend who passed away from ALS
I am so sorry for both the l for the sudden loss of your husband and the loss of your friend Lisa
Thank- you and hugs to you as well. Lisa
I know we are all here for you.
Hug.......Sandra
