Today I took my 2 year old to a playdate at McDonalds to play with a classmate of his. The mom and I have talked several times and are facebook friends. She told me today that her husband saw me on facebook and recognized my husband. Apparently her husband was one of the first responders to my husband and performed CPR on him. It has me very emotional today. I also disclosed some information to her that I thought she would have known but she didn't so I feel like I betrayed my husbands trust. She is a pastor so I am not worried about her spreading it around but it still bothers me that I disclosed Johns personal information. In some ways it is comforting that her husband was there...ive met him a few times and he is very kind. on the other hand picturing him trying to save my husband makes it more real and painful.
Don't beat yourself up because you confided in this woman. Judging from the fact that she is a pastor and her husband is a first responder, they have probably had many people confide personal information to them over the years. I think it's probably a good idea to continue to interact with her; as a pastor, she's someone you can rely on to help you when you're struggling emotionally.
