Hi everyone. I am new to the forum. Yesterday marked 8 months since my husband died. He had MND/ALS so travelled a very rough road for the three years before he died. His death was unexpected though as he had a routine procedure and we were planning to bring him home once he recovered. Everyone says he is at peace now which is good. Yes, I am happy he is no longer suffereing, but it doesn't change how much I miss him. Once the busy first few months after his death passed, I felt like I would wake up from this awful dream and we would be back where we were three years ago. Now that reality has/is setting in I just feel incredibly lost and lonely. Taking care of our teenage daughters takes up all of my time and energy and my friends are all couples and getting on with their lives. I came to this forum hoping to find other people who can identify with my feelings of loss and loneliness. How do you make time for yourself when being a single parent is so all-consuming?

I have had the same feelings that I can and will wake up from this nightmare. Reality has set in for me also. Amy died on June 28 of this year.
There is no single right way to walk this path. Take things one step, one minute, one hour, one day at a time. In one support group that I am in, people have asked "What do I do next?" One answer was, "Do the next thing". Take care of and be kind to yourself.
Blessings, Hope, Peace and Prayers for you and for all that are hurting tonight... Mark
