I forgot to mention also that I am going to use his work boots as planters. I will drill holes for drainage, plant flowers and place them in our yard. He did landscaping part time at our church.

I actually tackled my yard, or have been trying for the last few weeks. My husband also took care of the yard because he enjoyed doing it and took pride in the yard. He even had a vegetable garden. So I planted some vegetables which are actually doing ok. I know Tom must be helping me from above. I would mow the yard at times so this wasn't a problem. But the other week I was looking out a window at the yard & I thought to myself, Tom would have a fit if he saw the yard like this. So out I went to the garage & got the clippers, (since I can never get the weed wacker to work & knew he had electric clippers but of course couldn't find them) and went to town on the hedges, trees, etc. Maybe I got carried away but it was therapeutic. Then I went out & bought weed kller. I sprayed that on the flagstone patio that was overgrown with weeds. Little by little I pulled the weeds. Each day I would pick up sticks. Well today I finally bagged the last of these items. I then planted a few flowers. Isn't it a wonderful feeling once we are done & know our husbands would be proud. (sorry I wrote so much)

My stepson and I did some serious pruning on Sunday and I did more on Monday - I may have overdone it on one tree but it sure used up some energy.

Just like you the yard was Michaels. But it's mine now. Not saying I'm happy about it but someone has to do it. I'm actually proud of myself. I pruned the lilac and planted grass seed in an area that I'd complained about to him for yrs. And it's growing !! I found someone to clean and repair my gutters and my son & I fixed the front stoop & he fixed the leaky basement problem. So all in all I think we're doing ok.

Lol, some things you can say never about and fricken yard work is one of them.

For the last six years I have paid a guy from round the corner to cut the grass - cash money for him, and I hate doing anything in the yard - allergies drive me crazy during the summer, and I don't like bugs.

But if you are able to handle it I think it's a great way to channel your energy in his memory :)

There are many things we find we thought "never" about. For me it wasn't yard work, but I was convinced that I would spend the rest of my life alone and find the joy in myself. I did find joy in solitude, but share it with my new husband. Sharon
