Hello to anyone that may read this. I really need some advice on what to do next. My name is Moko and I and 35 years old. Me and my Wife (34) of 15 years have a little boy together of the age 11. I have known her for 26 years. It has now been 11 days since she passed away. She was a diabetic and was on transplant list for renal failure. She had a seizure at home and passed away. I perform cpr for over 4 mins untill 911 showed up and took her to hospital. Sadly even tho they got her breathing back at the hospital she was without oxygen for well over 20 mins and Doctors claim she would never wake up. She passed away 10 days after being in hospital and now me and my little boy are alone. She was my little baby. My whole life. I feel as if i let her down cause she always called me her superman but i couldn't help her. I don't know what to do now. My life is upside down. I am trying so hard to be here for my little boy and to stay strong. I am unable to work due to back and leg problems and liver disease. but I am still trying my best. Her mother is staying with us and has been for sometime cause of her own problems in life. My wife was on ssi, so not only did we lose a wife/mother/daughter but also our main source of income. I am told my son can get survivor benefits but I am still waiting for death certificate and not sure how to go about getting that for him. I am not sure exactly what I am looking for, I just know I need help to know what do to next. All anyone has been telling me is if you need anything call me, But they don't understand is I don't know what i need. I am lost. Please if anyone has gone through this or knows someone who has please just tell me what I need to do. I keep finding myself wanting to reach out for comfort but then again after reading what I could on the internet I think it's just my mind looking for something I am use to having. Right now any help would be great help.
my Update
So I had thought maybe things would start off very very hard and over time become easier to deal with. Today I made it to the social security office to see what all I have to do and what can be done. I am received with one huge crushing blow. Neither me or my 11 year old are entitled to any benefits because the ssi my wife was only does not work that way. On top of that we do not get the $255 check that people get when a loved one passes away. Same check I was told I had to sign off to help pay some of the funeral cost. I myself have been unable to work for a very long time due to back and legs problems. SSI was something they claimed I was not qualified to get. But just last month right before all the problems and the passing of my wife I was told I had cirrhosis of the liver due to excess amounts of tylenol I have took for my back and leg pain that was in my pain meds over the years. So the only thing I see left is to try again and see if I qualify with the added problems. I had thought things get hard and become easier with time but for me they seem to just keep piling. But then again I hear it gets the darkest right before the storm clears.

I am so sorry for your loss. You've taken a first important step in getting organized by getting the death certificate. Please make sure that you get about 10 copies - will be needed for a variety of reasons if your spouse had life insurance, retirement savings, plus through social security. You will need to visit a social security office to get your (very small) widower's benefit + to get your child's survivor benefits. It would be good too to talk to them about the SSI benefits and if there's any carry over there. I hear you on the "what can I do" comment - got tired of hearing that when my husband passed away. It almost felt like I had another job trying to fit in everyone's assignment.
Take heart Moko and stay in prayer to our Father God and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - this was truly the only way that I have been able to keep my head up. This site is great for support. God Bless You!
