Hello everyone, I just wanted to share a little about my wife. When Jean was 13 she developed a kidney disease. She was in and out of the hospital through out her teenage years. At 19 she went into kidney failure. Fortunately her older sister was a match and donated one of her kidneys. Health wise Jean lived a normal life for the next 20 years until her transplanted kidney started to fail. The life span of a transplanted kidney is 15 to 20 years her doctors told us. Jeans lasted 21. I was not a match but our daughter was, infact she was one of the closest matches the doctors had seen. what's truly amazing about this is that Jessica is not Jeans biological daughter. Jessica was my daughter from a previous marriage. She was 18 months old when we started dating. Jean was the only mother Jessica ever knew. So the transplant went well and all was normal for the next 4 years, then cancer took its turn.
I think most of us take life for granted, Jean never did. Every day was a gift to her. She was quick to shed a tear for others in pain but never for herself. about 3 months before she passed, we were sitting on our deck out back with her sister, she asked Jean how she was able to handle this so well, Jean responded, Cndy I've had a great life, I've been living on borrowed time for 30 years.
The only solace I can get from loosing her is that she will never know the pain that all of us here know. I will carry that for her

Please accept my sympathy at the passing of your wife. She must have been an incredible person!
The solace you mentioned at the end of your post is the solace I feel, too. Although Sam and I always felt that I would leave this world first (heart-related issues), I would never want him to know this pain.
We can all learn an important lesson from Jean: life is so precious and we can never take it for granted.

What the possitive attitude she had I am sure she touched many people and will be remembered for her positive attitude.
I like Martha have grown Son's and the said the same thing that if one of us had to pass early they did not think their Dad could have handled it. My Tim was kind hearted and I would never want him to feel the pain and heartache I have. I try to remember that I was lucky to have had him in my life for 36 years. Sorry I think I got off topic.
