I feel pretty useless too. But, I know that he would want me to be here for the kids and to help them in little ways. You take care.

It will soon be 3 years for me. At the time you are I felt the same way. It is heartbreaking to know what others have to go through and not be able to tell them what to do to make it better. Nothing really does it just plain hurts all the time but i wanted you to know that while the sadness and pain never go away it will become easier to bear in time. Big Hugs!!!!

Marie, So sorry for your loss.

I pretty much feel the same way you do but I've been told by others further along that eventually we will learn to live again if we just take it one small step at a time. It takes time to let go of all the hurt & separation before we can begin to find ourselves again.
Perhaps we will find in ourselves the same attributes our husbands loved so much about us.
I know there will come a day when we will remember the times we spent together more than the time we've spent apart.

Oh Marie. So sorry for the pain you are feeling. Take care of yourself as best you can and know, we are all here for you. The old cliches are true..one step at a time - even if it is 2 steps back and one step ahead. I am at 8 months and think things are going well just to be dumped back into sorrow again with no warning. Better than it was...but still a long way to go.

Marie, I have reached the 13 month mark and I can say I am finding it easier than I did at first. There is hope, and the pain does get more bearable. There is no set time frame for healing; with each of us it is different. Just keep moving, one step at a time, and you will make it. You are not alone. laurabp

Marie, I'm so sorry for your pain, I remember feeling just like you, having to close my eyes, tell myself to breathe, and somehow make it to the next minute in my life. I still feel that way sometimes but not all the time as before. I wish there was something else I could say to help ease your pain, but just know that it does get easier as time goes by. It is so hard early on. Then after the first few months it is like, how come I am still in such pain? I was numb and on auto pilot for the first three months, then the pain was so raw when I started to come out of the fog. Grief hits so hard that at first we think we can't possibly survive. It gets more bearable over time. I know that does not help now. I just kept putting one foot in front of the other and was kind to myself and knew what I was experiencing was normal.
I know people get sick of hearing this, but please hang in there and know that some day it will be bearable and you will not cry the oceans that we do cry early on. The waves will be less intense, or will not last as long little by little.
