I had mine and my husbands baby last week. I did pretty well at the hospital. the coming home was hard. my husband was obsessed with our son and his other sons from a previous marriage. he loved babies and in all honesty he did most of the caregiving for our son when he was first born as I was too nervous. I am trying to remember everything he did and I seem to be doing okay with our baby Jake. the hospital made a video of our new baby...I cant watch it, it makes me break down...but at least my son will have it. Its hard looking at my two boys and knowing we are a family of three when I thought we were going to be a family of four. I have had a lot of company. My best friend flew down and right now a family friend has flown down. Next week I start being a full time mom of two boys on my own. please keep us in your thoughts. I had a rough few days where I had bad news and was beyond devastated but I just keep remembering how my husband said I would be okay if he ever left and I am trying to be okay. Thank you to those who emailed and asked about us. I appreciate it. -Kara

Ahh Kara! Congratulations on the birth of your son. I am so sorry you had to go through it without your beloved husband. I can't imagine all you have gone through, the courage and strength it would take. I am sorry you got bad news on top of it all. I will be thinking about you and wishing you and your boys all good things.

Congratulations on your new baby. Giving birth without your husband by your side was hard, but remember that you have now his child which is so wonderful!

Congratulations on your new baby boy. I am so sad for you that you had to have him without your husband but I hope everytime you look at him, hold him, that you will feel the love of your dear husband in your heart. You are totally in my thoughts. Xo

Congratulations Kara, and welcome Jake. They say babies can see both worlds for a while after being born. So kiss him and whisper a message to your husband too continue helping as he can.

May the Creator bless you with the heart of two, raising your sons. Keep the grannies on speed dial, they know something about doing this.

Congrats on your new son! What a precious gift to have another part of your husband with you - I am grateful for my two boys because I know they are a part of everyone that came before them that I have lost - I treasure them in spite of themselves somedays! :) I am sorry your husband isn't with you physically in other ways for this time in your lives. Do reach out to family and friends during this time, too. Don't try to be Wonder Woman too much. Like Jewells said, keep the grannies on speed dial, too.

Kara,
First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Congratulations on your new baby. I am much like you in that I was 7 months pregnant when my husband died. It is with great sadness that these babies such as ours will never know the physical presence of their daddies. You will look for parts of him in your child as the years go by. Treasure these moments because part of what you have lost is still with you and growing right before your eyes. You have been blessed with a child. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to talk.
