Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

We bicycled on local trails then began to take bicycle vacations! My husband talked to a man who owned a bicycle shop about his condition. Once my husband died that man showed me how to put the bike rack on, the bike on & services my bike. My husband was diagnosed in February & was too weak for us to bike once the weather got warmer. It's bitter sweet being on the trail myself but like you I continue to revisit the places we biked. I have good memories there.
Our journey has changed

Your husband sounds much like my wife. She had the travel bug too. She would call me out of the blue..."Honey I want to go here for a few days. What do you think?" My response was always the same..."Tell me what days I need to take off." She had two vacations booked for us when she suddenly past. I give you so much credit for traveling to the locations you guys went to leave a part of him there. That can't be easy. Anne and I loved Ocean City Md. Vacationed there twice a year. She told me many times she wanted her ashes spread at the end of the rock jetty at the end of the boardwalk. Of course I'm going to honor that request. Not sure how familiar you are with OC. On the boardwalk they have a memorial that you can buy bricks for past loved ones. I'm waiting to get word her brick is in place. That's going to be a tough trip. But you know that.
Your husband and my wife are not going to walk through the front door. We both know that. What we can however take solace in is we will be reunited with them when our turn comes. Good thoughts and best wishes to you and yours. Again I'm very sorry you find yourself here. (((Hug)))
