Perhaps a support group or sessions with a therapist/psychologist will help, especially if you are having guilt or remorse.

I had the same problem. My husband died 7 months ago. I was replaying that night over and over in my mind. Waking up to his gasping for air, calling 911, the feel of his skin, giving him CPR, the EMTs, the hospital etc etc. I'm receiving EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy. It is given to people who have experienced trauma and PTSD. I highly recommend it. It has helped me tremendously. Peace and hugs to you.

I am new to the group and have not told my story yet only responding to a few posts. My artist husband of 44 years died 8 months ago. I get flashes of that last day but don't play over. He died at home in his art studio in a hospital bed with hospice help. I am getting bereavement therapy, massage and joined a yoga class for seniors (I am the youngest at 68). He was 82 and had cancer 2 years, one kind went into remission and was back painting again, Then another kind hit and even though he got immunotherapy instead of straight chemo. his immune system too compromised and he didn't make it. I have very good days and also low days when I don't see the point of being here without him trying to have a life I don't really enjoy because we shared everything, movies, trips, talking in bed, meals, listening to music. I know it gets better and people to share this deep pain with is one of the best things we can do, put our spiritual arms around each other and hug and pray. Peace to you, and I was really touched by your story. Sudden loss must be even more difficult than the slow downward slope of illness. Do see a professional or group therapy, it will help. My prayers for you.
