I realized today how much I miss having him around. I miss the nights of cooking dinner in the kitchen, then eating it while discussing our day, then curling up to watch a tv show or movie. I am able to cook for myself again but I sit alone watching tv until I can't keep my eyes open then I crawl into bed. I miss our morning routine of coffee in the morning planning our day. This was true intimacy. The hardest thing is the quietness of our home. What I want more then anything is one more kiss, one more hug, one more "I adore you, darlin!" My soul mate is gone and I am lost. Just needed a good vent tonight. Thank you everyone for letting me share

I am so very sorry for your loss. The hole left behind when we lose them seems to be infinite. So many ways our lives intertwined. The knowing they are there beside us and the physical affection makes us ache for a gentle touch, a kind word, a compassionate kiss. This site has been a true blessing for me. And I come here often. Even if I just get a glimmer of hope from one person it brightens my day. Hugs to you, Michele

I so agree ..... Nights are so lonely. I also miss the intimacy we had together, and knowing that it will never happen again, is painful.

Totally relate on all levels. Once I come home, it is totally just me... I pull into the garage and always say "I miss you every day sweetheart." So many triggers this week. Tonight caught a glimpse of his handwriting and the tears just flowed. Just all one big heartbreak.

Same here. living alone after 41 years feels so empty.
even our adult kids and grandkids can't bear coming over to the house because it hurts them so much that he is gone.
and THAT hurts me so much. like- how do they think "I" feel EVERY SINGLE DAY AND NIGHT? I can't escape his absence.

Hugs to you.... The intimacy, the "only the two of you" moments... the routines, they are all so hard to have ripped away like this. My heart goes out to everyone here.

I miss all of those things!! I miss my Bob every second!! But I have tried by God's grace to fill my life with other things. I call people from my church, and just invite them out for lunch or breakfast! I find if I am fairly forward and upbeat and not too melancholic, I get re invited out by them!! It helps me so much to have fellowship. It is a different life for me. And of course my dogs are a huge comfort!! My heart and prayers go out everyone who is so torn up inside with grief that they can't function! Take a step out, you can do it, and you will feel some better!!

Oh yes, I miss the intimacy too!!! We did everything together. Now it is just me. However, I am so blessed to have wonderful friends and family who have helped so much. I do not know what state I would be at 14 months if I had not had found this site. God Bless you all!!! Thank you.

I miss reaching over while driving to hold her hand and my hand remains empty, every time we left each other we would kiss three times and say I love you. I get up every morning and kiss her picture 3 times and tell her I love her.

I look up from the couch and still see her making breakfast or cleaning the kitchen. She used to catch me just staring at her and would say "what are you staring at?". I would simply answer "just you babe" she would just continue on with a smile on her face, breaks my heart.

I cannot tell you how alone I feel after losing my wife on May 21. Your words are exactly what I am going through. My heart and prayers are with you and kindly ask if you could offer your prayers to me and my wife, Beverley. I know I will never get over this with my only goal is that one day I will be with her again.

Your words are very important to me and I appreciate anything you could offer to help me deal with this.

Thank you for sharing. I am sorry for your loss, I feel the same way. No one else can give me those moments and I miss them horribly. My husband was my everything, The driving force behind me. My strength. What I wouldn't do for one more minute to say I love you and hold his hand. I was always the one who fixed things but I can't fix this for any of us. I hurt so much. The loneliness is terrible. I try so hard to hear his voice and feel his touch.
