Good morning all my friends: I need to reach out this morning. When I got my new car from Skip of course, sirus radio came with the car. of course when the free subscription was up I told Skip how I loved the LOVE channel and sirus radio was a done deal. I use to tell him that every single song on the LOVE channel was us. I would listen to all of the songs and all of the words and realize how lucky we both were to have found such a special love. I am a true romantic and so was my Skip for he would always call me Darlin Sweetie Pie and Fatty Pants lol Those songs that I loved so much and were a huge part of the beginning of each morning (on my way to work) just make my cry now. I want to listen and remember the good times but it is just so hard. The lonliness in the car on the way to work is no good either. Thank you my new friends for letting me talk. What a special guy . In time, you may be able to smile at this special connection because it showed the love Skip had for you. I am very careful in listening to songs that are not from our dating days. I listen to classical or jazz because they do not trigger memories. I have found that the Golden Oldies stations are not for me right now, but soon I will be able to listen to those as well. How wonderful that you have such memories to cherish, but it may take awhile for them to give you the comfort you deserve. Hugs. Martha Jean

At first I couldn't listen to much on the radio until one day I was way down in the muck and a song came on that screamed I am here with you. When ever Lyn would go run errands and return the dogs and I could hear her coming up the driveway. Then she would sit in the car until her song went off she was belting out to. She use to sing with a band in her younger days and was pretty good. So music was a big part of our lives.
Now I listen to whatever I can that she would listen to. In a way it's like she is riding along with me. But it did take time. Take care.

I'm not there yet, I can't listen to music. Tommy could have a silly sence of humor and would go around singing 'knock 3 times on the ceiling if you want me"(tony Orlando and Dawn) and his song to me was "your still the one"by shania twain and no way will I listen to it, it would tear me down:(

I listen to the love channel everyday. It's mostly all the songs we listened to growing up together. I have an hour drive to work and generally in tears before I get there.

Carol-Ann,

I had to wait for a few weeks before I could listen to music too. Now I find it comforting. Sometimes I still cry a little- but it is better for me to cry a little on the way to work then to try to suppress it and have a meltdown at work.

I hope that the time will come soon for you when you'll find comfort in the music and the memories too.

I love the love songs as well. This morning, the song "Yesterday once more" is ringing in my head. In time, you will be able to think of these memories with less heartbreaking lenses. Be patient and kind to yourself.
