Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
What a terrible loss, to lose you fiancee so young...and your dreams too for all hoped for times.....I am so sorry for your loss...
This is a site of very caring and understanding people.....right now I cannot write a lot but reading helps and once in a while I can get into writing and that helps a lot too.....
hugs....
One day at a time is the only way I could start to get through this. Sometimes one hour at a time and one minute at a time was all I could do. I was lucky to find a spousal bereavement support group somewhat near me which I attend. That and this forum are helping me navigate my way towards a new and different life.
Although my husband was older that yours he passed away suddenly with no illness either. I felt the same way as you describe for the first 3 months, the next 4 have been worse (Sorry) as I am out of the auto-pilot - existing stage and into the trying to accept, (not like it) stage
DS has a lot of caring and understanding poeple who can help all of us through this as they have been there, done that.
Good place to vent, discuss or tell your feelings as there is lot of good non judgemental ears on this board.
You are not alone when you are with the DS group
Wishing you all the help, support and understanding you need along your journey
Sending a big hug

I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing your love before you even got to start your life together. It's beyond words.
The only thing I can say to you is that you made him so happy. I can hear it in the words you used. I have no doubt of that, and neither should you.
You said it so well, when you said, Why do the good have to go so young? I lost my husband in February, and we were together for 6 years, but married legally that is for only 10 months. I tell you that just to tell you I understand you feelings. I felt so cheated when we were just starting, and we wre/were in our 50s. Can't imagine what you must be going through.
I am glad you found this site, and the amazing people that are here. It was and still is a lifeline to me, and I hope it will be the same for you.
I am so very sorry. HUGS diane
I'm so sorry you had to find us due to such tragic circumstances. That's the saddest thing, to lose Lewis when you were both so young full of so many plans. I lost my husband 10 days after you lost Lewis. I know it probably won't help you to know that no matter how old or how long married, we are never ready for them to go ahead of us. Conversely, no matter how young or new a relationship is, it doesn't take away the depth of the grief. The loneliness is horrid. Actually it's all horrid and the stuff of nightmares.
Here at DS we support each other daily, hourly if need be. You will find many people who are a willing ear and a soft shoulder. We have a few young men and women that you may be able to relate to better but everyone has the same caring attitude and will be here for you.
It might help you to read some books on grief or to find a grief counselor if you can afford one. It's important to know that what you feel is normal and that there are stages to be gotten through.
There are many good people who have traveled along this road for alot longer than we have. They will be here to let you know what to expect in the various stages, how they handled it, etc. Everyone is different according to their temperment, so don't expect too much of yourself, be kind and understanding with yourself. Read alot here in the forum - you will make friends and feel less lonely in your grief because you'll find kinship.
Big hugs, Di
