I don't know how this works or where to begin. I am just so lost and empty.

Just talk. nothing will fill the emptiness if you leave the pain inside. your words moved me to write. I'm new here, too. Please know there are others who know how you feel, exactly, excruciatingly. That may not help. Words may not help, except your own. There are kindred spirits here. I'm glad you're here

Rain song, when did your spouse pass? Try not to think past today at first. I had a very hard time thinking about the future and future plans when my wife died. Just start with getting through today. Empty, is an accurate description.

It's been 3 months ago today that my husband Bob of 31 years passed away the first time. The Paramedics brought him back . And then he left me forever on the 8th. Everyone here has had a loss. Whether it was recent or still feels recent. I had multiple breakdowns today. We are all here to share talk listen and comfort one another. I also feel extremely lost. Stay strong . multiple hugs Deb

My soulmate of 28 years went home at 6:20 AM on July 27, 2018 in my arms. We had been in a Hospice facility for several days before that.

I am so very sorry that you lost your love. I lost my husband almost 3 years ago, 9/30/15. He suffered a cardiac arrest and survived for 30 days in ICU. He endured open heart surgery but the arrhythmia killed him. Multiple incidents of code blue in between but I never lost hope. The loss was excruciating as I know you have all experienced. We were married for almost 30 years. This time of year is difficult but I’m doing ok for the most part. The worst of the physical pain is gone and my life is ok. I work a lot and spend time with family, friends and meet up with other widows/ widowers for social events occasionally through Soaring Spirits International which has local regional groups. Grief takes time and you go through starts and stops and feel at times like you are going backwards. I found that it helped to just focus on the present and tell myself in the difficult moments that I was ok. Even saying it out loud helped me calm down sometimes. But other times I needed to let myself go and have a cry and move on to the next moment. It took me a very long time to be comfortable spending time alone but eventually it did happen. I hope that it helps some people to hear my experience. There were so many here who helped me in the beginning. I needed to know someone understood and others had survived. I wish you all peace and comfort. Marybeth
